As discussed in our class, use the ten points accomplishments you have accomplished in your profession life and create your ‘Power Statement’ now. Make sure to follow the three steps we have discussed earlier.
I am a Lawyer

1- I excellent analytically skills and is able readily make sense of a large volume of information.

2-I have a creative and able to think of reasonable solutions when problems and unique situation arise.

3-I have research skills and preparing a legal strategy generally requires an extensive amount of research .

National Occupational Classification


 The National Occupational Classification (NOC) is a system of organizing information about occupations in Canada. Every occupation in Canada has a NOC job description, which provides listings of the main duties, employment requirements and job titles. These descriptions are identified by a four-digit code called the NOC code.

Task 1:
051 Managers in art, culture, recreation and sport
922 Supervisors, assembly and fabrication
924 Utilities equipment operators and controllers
921 Supervisors, processing and manufacturing occupations
Click on this link and list the 10 sectors that the first digit of the NOC code refers to. In small groups, brainstorm three occupations for each sector.

Imagine that you want to apply for a position as a cashier in a grocery store. Find the NOC information related to this position. Answer the questions below.

Here is another very useful website which is JobFutures. This is a Canadian government website that provides information about 300 occupational groups. For each occupation, you can learn about average earnings, job duties, unemployment, and education requirements. The strength of this website is that it provides up-to-date information about the work prospects or employment outlook for each occupation. This information can help you decide what kind of work to look for. Use these both website to look for an occupation that interests you. Read the description in both site for this occupation.
Then, prepare a short presentation for the class about this occupation. Include the following in your presentation:

  • Main duties
  • Unemployment rate
  • Annual average earnings
  • Employment requirements

Friday's Assignment(What have I learned?)

I started in the work place before three months, I improved in listening,speaking and writing. I learned how to write resume,cover letter,email and memo.I took a lot of information about Canada.The easier part for me was speaking classes and the difficult parts when I used Microsoft word to write a resume and cover letter.This programs help me a lot in how to search for a job. Each month we had different trips in many places to show us a lot of experience about occupation in Canada.I need to work more clarifying my writing and learning new ways of presenting my presentations. My ideas are that breaks should be more shorter and when students disturb or distract each other, teachers should take more action with the situation. I am grateful for the amazing friendship I've made in this workshop, this is like my second family.
